Operational Turnaround

Operational Turnaround

If you are jumping from one crocodile's back to the next, just to cross the river, you are likely in need of a structural solution. Not only can we as business owners lose our business and have to deal with the fallout, but we will also lose the intrinsic value created which is locked up in the business. In addition, employees, creditors and clients will face grave uncertainty.

To help struggling businesses with potential, we have developed our Proactive REscue and Turnaround (PRET) programme. We aim to rescue the value of a company, minimise the risk to clients and creditors and retain the business owners' and directors' pride,

Course of Action

1. You contact us, and we listen and explore the current situation; no obligations, no fees.
2. Together, we discuss whether executing a discrete in-company scan makes sense.
3. we provide a preliminary battle plan with priorities based on the scan.
4. We agree on the tasks to start immediate firefighting on the main issues.
5. Following this, we prepare the actions and are in-house for three days while confirming the next priorities.
6. Only if you want us to - we work with you for any length of time to steady the ship further.
7. Upon entering calmer waters we downscale our involvement.

During the programme, we create a tailored set of projects. We work with you to initiate, plan, execute, control, and close the work of teams to achieve specific goals and meet specific success criteria. Projects are temporary endeavours designed to produce achievable results with a defined beginning and end.

Duration & Fees

Generally, a turnaround and larger change projects take about nine months, with another three to nine months of after care. This is all depends on the situation, the attitude of the most important stakeholders and the available resources. It also depends on the desired outcome and philosophy of the business owner.

The involvement is full time for the first days and weeks during which the first situation analysis is done and circumstances and options available are identified. It will involve speaking with stakeholders and lead to a preliminary root cause analysis, required to address the situation and prevent it from occurring again. This phase can stretch for up to 3 months. During months 4 to 6 the involvement can normally be reduced to 50% and during the months 7-9 it might be the same of reduced even further. On an ongoing basis, one day per week for the then following months 10-12 or 10-18 should work just fine, depending on progress made.
The related fees are a 50/50 combination of a fixed day rate and a results based fee. However, the situation as is will be decisive as to what the final structure will look like. We are always open to constructive discussion.
